The Head of Boarding

As the head of boarding my Priority is to provide boarding students with a safe, caring; home away from home’, which offers independence, privacy, flexibility and fun.

My vision as the Head of Boarding is to motivate each student to approach all aspects of life with imagination, integrity, compassion and optimism.

Callistemon House takes the responsibility you place in us to care for your child/ren extremely seriously and take great care in providing academic guidance, and pastoral care required for a successful, enjoyable boarding experience.

I have over 10 years’ experience working within a boarding schools in numerous roles within House Parenting, administration, and as a Head of Boarding within the Northern Territory, as well as residential care in Melbourne, Victoria. My training involves Diploma of Management, Diploma of Youth Work, and Certificate IV in community services, and I am in my 3rd year in a Bachelors of Social Work degree.

It is a privilege to be able to support and nurture young people and help them to develop into strong, capable, and respectful Adults. We look forward to you visiting our boarding facility and becoming part of the community.

House Parents have direct responsibility for the pastoral care and supervision of all boarders; they work with all students and have small group of students as a direct support person for your child for academic progress, pastoral care and wellbeing, advice, and medical needs such as appointments.

 

Boarding House Positions that are also common at Callistemon House include:

Tutor:  For academic support when students need it in the evening from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm.

Activities House Parent: – provide afternoon support for FT house parents and boarders from the hours of 3:00 pm – 7:30 pm. This is a casual position

Cook: 5 days a week and provides all meals throughout the week.

All staff are happy to speak to and meet with parents to discuss the needs of their child. Parents are encouraged to contact the office and arrange.
